It's Christmas In July

It's Christmas in July...It really does almost feel like it is. Blessed relief from the hot summer temperatures with some cold air from up north. Here in Central Nebraska a high of low 60's. NICE! In honor or this brief respite from summer thought I would dig up one of the first cards I ever submitted in a weekly MelJen's Challenge. I love this one. The images...the color...glitter...fake fur...OK....I just really like it.

I used the Images: .
Good Golly hard to believe almost 4 years have gone by....

I like to call him 'Bubba'. He is from MelJens Designs and the image is of course titled 'Bad Hare Day'. He was a BLAST to work with and made me smile the whole time.

A Pocketful of fun - A 3-D Tutorial

This is the Design Team Day Blog Post I did for Meljens Designs:

I love this sweet lil pocketful of fluff, Little Pocket Puppy, one of Melissa's newer digital images.
One of the things I really enjoy doing with digital images is making them 3 dimensional so they really 'POP'. I don't mind fussy cutting and often find myself following the motto..."When in doubt, Cut it Out".  For this particular image I printed off 3 identical sized images and then colored the pieces I needed and cut them out.

I use mounting tape to add dimension, dimensional glue spots are also available.
I find the tape less expensive and easier to find.

Cut and place the mounting tape pieces where needed.

Place the pieces in order on base from lowest to highest layer.

All Done

Hope you enjoyed this little guy as much as I did.
Thanks for stopping by and wishing you a
'pocketful' of fun and surprises today and everyday.

MEl Jen's 200th Challenge Celebration. CELEBRATE Each and Every Day

Welcome to this stop on the MelJens 200th Challenge 'Celebration' Blog Hop. You should have come here from Rae Ann's Blog. My offering for this event expresses the thought that each day is cause to Celebrate the beauty and goodness that is around us if we choose to look.
I made a double easel card featuring Little Puddle Duck  which is the digital stamp I will be giving away to one lucky randomly selected visitor. Make sure you leave a comment with your email address to this post.
I also used Sunny Day Flower for the Sun, Tulip Buggies for the Tulips, Sweet Little Rainbow for the clouds and Garden Flower Frame for the sentiments.
All of the images were fussy cut and colored with Copic Markers. I found a simple double easel card tutorial but adjusted the size making it smaller to fit my needs.

From here you need to 'Hop' on over to Sue's Blog and see what she has for you.

Thank You for stopping by and celebrating with us. Remember to leave a comment and your email here to enter the random drawing for Little Puddle Duck or any of the other digital images I used in this project.. You may also join our Challenge this week using a MelJens Digital Image and the theme Celebration for the chance to be one of three randomly selected entrants to win 2 digital images of their choice from Melissa's Store. For more info or to find the stops you might have missed you can find that here at the Design Team and Challenge Blog.

Hope your Day is just Ducky and filled with lots of little everyday joys and smiles for you to Celebrate!

It's Back to School in Lunch Lady Land

OKIE DOKIE.....so it has been awhile since I last posted....Anyway.....

It's back to school and back to work, at least for this Lunch Lady. School started here in North Platte Nebraska on Aug 14 and Boy Howdy let me tell you those first 3 days at the local High School were a Doozy. Thought the other gals and I needed something fun for surviving to tell the tale. This is an 8x10 picture frame that allows us to 'advertise' our successes and encourage one another. The messages are written with a Dry-Erase marker and can be changed by just wiping off the glass.

The digital stamps I used were MelJens Designs 'Little Kitchen Utensils' and  'Flirty Diva', which I adjusted a bit with a white gel pen for her hairnet ( a must for every conscientious lunch lady) and an ultra .005 fine point black permanent ZIG marker to add sleeves, to cover her voluptuous cleavage-dress code appropriate; and change her stylish heels to the ever necessary, hideously ugly slip resistant safety shoes. Wow! How was that for a run on sentence. My 15 and 17 yr old sons still at home informed me the sentiment I wrote was redundant...(if one lived to tell the tale one obviously survived. Sometimes having smart nerdy kids is a pain, on the bight side they do stop to say Hi as they go through the lunch line and aren't too embarrassed to claim me as Mom. Best part of the job is the High School Kids, they really are a lot of fun, full of  energy and, contrary to popular belief, actually very polite and mannerly.
And yes....all us lunch ladies love the song, Lunch Lady Land - by Adam Sandler.

Have a really Great Tuesday and hope this  brought a smile to your day....

Add a lil Color to your Day

Nothing like a bit of 'color' to brighten even the dreariest of Winter Days. MelJens's Designs is holding a color challenge featuring this 'gumball brights' color palette.

I love Melissa's image, Big Sweater Kid. He is so fun to color up in big bright bold colors that are sure to add some sunshine to any one's day, even if there is snow outside.

So 'chews' (sorry... I could not resist a perfectly good pun) your favorite MelJens image and a few gumball bright colors and join us for this week's 'color challenge'.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you find a bit of color to brighten your day and lighten your heart.

Snow Day Fun!! How 'SWEET' it is....

We had a snow day on Friday and I was able to spend it crafting away all cozy with a cup of cocoa, my markers, and my favorite shows on the DVR. Woohoo! Let's here it for snow days!! I can play and still have Sat to clean and get ready for Sunday.
Melissa at Meljen's Designs has the cutest lil fuzzy cupcakes that are brand spankin' new at her shop. I made this lil Mousie cupcake for my sweet lil granddaughter Chessa Jean. Her Birthday is this next week.

This image was great for 3-D layers and the dimension of it is great fun. I popped up the frosting and the cupcake liner.

Thanks, for stopping by and Happy Creating.  Have a 'SWEET' Day...

Flowers for You....

I needed a card for a friend who has recently suffered an unexpected death in her extended family. This image from Mo's Digital Pencil was perfect. This digital stamp is titled 'Sorry Shana'. I think she is so very very sweet and just the thing to wish someone Comfort and that Peace which passeth all understanding.
(Philippians 4:7) and let them know they are in your thoughts and prayers.
I really like the purple and lime green color palette on this. Her knobby lil knees and stripey socks bring a smile to my heart. Hopefully this will bring a hug to my coworker.

Thank You for stopping by and May you always find comfort and peace in times of challenge and trial.

Whenever I hear the Song of a Bird (DT)

I found this sweet little image, Spring Swing, over at the Paper Shelter and just had to try my hand at coloring it up and seeing what I could do with it. I was pleased with the end result and it was so much fun to color I cannot possibly describe.

One of my lil granddaughters has long long blonde hair with a bit of gorgeous curl so I made this for my lil chessa. She is such a sweet gentle lil soul and this reminded me of her. As a side note, seems if there is a bird in a picture I just have to color it as a robin. Every year I just love to see the Robins come out in spring. It is impossible for me to watch them hopping around on the lawn and not smile till it hurts and I find myself chuckling out loud. They never fail to brighten my day and lighten my heart.

I was reminded of one of my favorite songs as a child that I have never outgrown.

I know Heavenly Father Loves Me
Whenever I hear the song of a bird or look at the blue, blue sky, Whenever I feel the rain on my face or the wind as it rushes by, Whenever I touch a velvet rose or walk by our lilac tree, I’m glad that I live in this beautiful world, Heavenly Father created for me.

Thank You for stopping by and Happy Creating…..

The Joy of Color

I think one of my greatest inspirations when it comes to creating my digital stamp projects is the image itself. B/W Digital Stamps just cry out for me to grab something to color them in with.Guess I am still a lil girl at heart and I just love to color, to see something in black and white lines come alive. Some of my fondest memories as a child where of sitting with my sister at the feet of my great Aunt Dee and coloring while she sat in her chair and watched a bit of television, probably Art Linkletter or Merv Griffin.  She always had a special place on her bookshelf with color books just for us and one of the Giant boxes of Crayola Crayons. All those color choices and a crayon sharpener in the back of the box. This lil girl was in Heaven.

This wee lil image from Melissa at MelJens Designs, entitled Little Teenie, just made me smile as I added bright greens, oranges and a bit of purple. Naturally a brightly colored image deserves an equally bright and colorful background to find a home on.

Another set of images that just had to have lots of bright bold color: Turtle's Little Star and Starfish Buddies

There is not one blade of grass, there is no color in this world that is not intended to make us rejoice.  ~ John Calvin

Thank You for stopping by and I hope your day is filled with sunshine and color, no matter what the weather in your neck of the woods.

I'm seeing Stars...

....and it's because of the new challenge at MelJen's Designs, featuring....you got it, STARS! I ran across these cute cute cute lil Sea Turtle and his Starfish Buddy  and the 2 lil Starfish Pals when I did a search in Melissa's shop for 'Stars'. I fell in Love immediately. Made a card for my Hubby to remind him that he has the  love and support of the boys and I. The entire time I was working on it, I kept hearing in my mind the voice of Crush and his son, the sea turtles from the movie Finding Nemo. They are some of my favorites.

You will want to double-check the new challenge guidelines at Meljens' HERE and then you can 'Aim For the *** STARS ***' as you join in.

Thanks for stopping by and Have an Awesome Day, Dude...
