It's Christmas In July

It's Christmas in July...It really does almost feel like it is. Blessed relief from the hot summer temperatures with some cold air from up north. Here in Central Nebraska a high of low 60's. NICE! In honor or this brief respite from summer thought I would dig up one of the first cards I ever submitted in a weekly MelJen's Challenge. I love this one. The images...the color...glitter...fake fur...OK....I just really like it.

I used the Images: .
Good Golly hard to believe almost 4 years have gone by....

Have a Great Day and thanks for letting me share.

Here We Go A Caroling . . .

I think the music of Christmas is just about my favorite way to celebrate the Season of our Savior's Birth. Music  is the Highlight of the festivities, whether it be listening to my CD's or singing in the Choir. It's just not Christmas without the music. I was working in the Middle School Cafeteria yesterday and heard a young man humming, "Deck the Halls" quietly to himself. Nothing brings the joy of Christmas to our hearts like Christmas Carols. That being said, the design team at MelJen's was ecstatic to find out the new release and challenge this week  is 'Christmas Carols'.

Away in a Manger is probably one of the very first Christmas Carols a child learns or recognizes. I teamed up Melissa's new digital image, Away in a Manger with the Nativity Stable from last week's release. I paper-pieced the Stable and added lots of festive glitter to the hay, stars and here and there. The background 'sheet music' is exactly that...I found it on the Internet, saved on the computer and then imported and resized before printing to use as a background. .99 musical note punch from Walmart was just perfect for this I thought.

Well, I liked the way the card turned out and hopefully it was worth it ... I did a 'dummy' and screwed up my laser printer when I accidentally got adhesive on the drum while doing the paper piecing. Now everything I print has a black smudge down one side. I hope we are able to fix it. Grrrrrrr--I hate it when I do something stupid....especially 'expensive' stupid things, but generally I do go above and beyond when I do stupid things....Just ask my Dad, I've always been an over-achiever in that department. I'm the reason he always had warranties on things around the house. Even brand-new lawn mower blades take exception to running over a concrete pipe sticking up out of the ground.

Thanks for Stopping By and May Your Days Be Merry And Bright . . .

Wish upon a Christmas Star MelJens #34

This challenge asked for 'Sparkle & Shine'. Used 'stickles' glitter on the star and snowflakes as well as under image for snow. Added 'Sparkle Fluff' to the Santa Hats for a bit of sparkly-fuzzy texture. A Shiny Red Bow to finish it off. I fell in love with this image from Di's Digi Downloads, it expresses the warmth and love of family, friends and the Christmas Season.

Joy is in the Giving ~ DPDC2 and Meljens #34-

Made this card for Doodle Pantry's Design Challenge 2 and also MeljensDC#34. Doodle Pantry's 'Lil Birdie' images always bring me a smile. I used their newly re-released Happy Birdie 2 and the new Santa Accessories Digital Images. Popped up the gifts on dimensionals for a 3-D look. Incorporated the Foliage element for the Challenge with holly berry paper, the package top and added holly at corner. Thought this lil guy well represented the wonder of Christmas and the joy of giving a gift that is well received. Wanted to include the idea to have the card shaped like a package. Added 'Stickles' Glitter here and there and 'Sparkly Fluff' to the Santa Hat Trim for some texture and shiny Bling. Tied up the whole card with a Festive Red Ribbon.
