A Pocketful of fun - A 3-D Tutorial

This is the Design Team Day Blog Post I did for Meljens Designs:

I love this sweet lil pocketful of fluff, Little Pocket Puppy, one of Melissa's newer digital images.
One of the things I really enjoy doing with digital images is making them 3 dimensional so they really 'POP'. I don't mind fussy cutting and often find myself following the motto..."When in doubt, Cut it Out".  For this particular image I printed off 3 identical sized images and then colored the pieces I needed and cut them out.

I use mounting tape to add dimension, dimensional glue spots are also available.
I find the tape less expensive and easier to find.

Cut and place the mounting tape pieces where needed.

Place the pieces in order on base from lowest to highest layer.

All Done

Hope you enjoyed this little guy as much as I did.
Thanks for stopping by and wishing you a
'pocketful' of fun and surprises today and everyday.

The Joy of Color

I think one of my greatest inspirations when it comes to creating my digital stamp projects is the image itself. B/W Digital Stamps just cry out for me to grab something to color them in with.Guess I am still a lil girl at heart and I just love to color, to see something in black and white lines come alive. Some of my fondest memories as a child where of sitting with my sister at the feet of my great Aunt Dee and coloring while she sat in her chair and watched a bit of television, probably Art Linkletter or Merv Griffin.  She always had a special place on her bookshelf with color books just for us and one of the Giant boxes of Crayola Crayons. All those color choices and a crayon sharpener in the back of the box. This lil girl was in Heaven.

This wee lil image from Melissa at MelJens Designs, entitled Little Teenie, just made me smile as I added bright greens, oranges and a bit of purple. Naturally a brightly colored image deserves an equally bright and colorful background to find a home on.

Another set of images that just had to have lots of bright bold color: Turtle's Little Star and Starfish Buddies

There is not one blade of grass, there is no color in this world that is not intended to make us rejoice.  ~ John Calvin

Thank You for stopping by and I hope your day is filled with sunshine and color, no matter what the weather in your neck of the woods.

Help For Japan

The artists at Whimsy Stamps have created a special set of digital stamps in an effort to raise relief funds for Japan. These images will be available for purchase through the month of April with all proceeds (minus paypal fees) going to support relief efforts in Japan. You can take a look at these special images at WHIMSY STAMPS.

This cause is one that is close to my heart as my Son and his family are currently stationed in Japan. They have commented on how much they admire the courage and strength of the Japanese people in this time of crisis. Their love and admiration for the Japanese people has only increased as they have seen how their signature gentleness of spirit, good humor and sense of humanity has only increased in their adversity.

I chose to showcase the image, Kimono Bear, created by Melissa Jenkins of MelJen's Designs. Whimsy stamps is also sponsoring a BLOG HOP to kick off this event. It began on the 4th and will run through the 10th of April. You can check it out HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Creating...

After the Rain...

I love this week's new releases from Meljen's Designs. These Lil Noah Images really caught my imagination.
You can find these images and the new challenge for this week HERE.

When I first saw these images I immediately thought of a Quilt. It was my first thought and it seemed to have stuck. I love the sentiment on this first card, it was rolling around in my brain somewhere and immediately came to mind. "AFTER THE RAIN....A RAINBOW. HIS PROMISES ARE SURE." I used paper piecing on the front of this card.

Remember to look for the incredible projects and ATC cards from the talented Design Team, these ladies pulled out all the stops for these inspiring images.
